In connection with the 400th anniversary of the Pendle Witch trials ( eight women and two men were accused of practicing witchcraft and hanged ), poet-laureate, Carol Ann Duffy’s poem (written in three-line tercets ) will be engraved on ten iron markers and places every five miles along the walk that leads from Pendle to Lancaster Castle.  The markers are designed so that anyone who walks the path can do a rubbing of the entire poem ( see Guardian article here ).
