Photo Poem: “Essence”

“Essence”

The photo is of a perfume bottle I got at the dollar store and use as an inkwell.

                             ESSENCE
Days spent roaming the woodland meadows;
Nights watching the passing Moon and stars;
Radiant summers of birdsong and flowers;
Barren, dark winters cold and long;
A hundred thousand griefs and joys;
A lifetime of hopes and dreams;
One kiss from Love’s sweet lips;
Distilled into a single tear
That trickles down the page:
The essence of a poem.
