New Wine: Old Wineskins

"The Good Life"

“The Good Life”

Did this woodblock print from a photo still life I set up and made this note card for a local winery. The theme: “The Good Life” (click to enlarge image.) A set of five notecards can be ordered here.

Neither do men put new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will be run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved. Matthew 9:17

The old wineskin
Hanging by its creaking strap,
Stained and well-worn;
Burnished to a glossy sheen
By the handling of the years.
The cork now loosely fitting,
The stitching dry and brittle–
O, give me a fresh wineskin
To hold this new wine of love.
