“When Glorious Summer Takes Its Bow”

“Tree in Late Autumn” (PoeticExpressions)

A farewell to summer:

By Poetic Meditations

When glorious Summer takes its bow
And exits off the sun-drenched stage,
Enter Autumn to cool the days and cue
The trees to exchange their emerald leaves
For coats of blazing hues of orange and gold
Before disrobing for their winter sleep.

The lively grasshopper once so merry
Grows quiet and forlornly still,
While under the crystal, star-lit night,
As a lonesome cricket begins to chirp its longing,
Winter bestows a frosty kiss upon the ground
Before her curtain lowers in a slow descent.

About poeticmeditations

A 19th-century romantic poet living in the 21st-century. The Romantic poets, nib pens, candlelight, waistcoats, and pocket watches are a few of my favorite things.
